Yesterday Jack’s health visitor scheduled an extra visit (between his three month and twelve month appointments) to check progress and drop off the free Booktouch pack I’d ordered (that I learned about in the April 2004 Nystagmus Network netletters, p10).
The pack includes two large font high contrast touchy feely books and a Rhymetime booklet with nursery rhymes and a CD. There are also guides for recommended books to read with blind or partially sighted children aged 0 – 5 and how to access them. I wasn’t aware you can get stratch and sniff books now which sound fun.
Ashley and Jen Bacon have posted a useful list of tried and tested books that their son Joshua has enjoyed on their Nystagmus blog.
